The Grey Man founder John Curtis interviewed by Richard Aedy
What did you do on your holidays? Lie on a beach, take an overseas trip or visit your family?
How about travelling to south-east Asia to rescue child sex workers, some of whom were most likely trafficked by their parents?
No it isn't a common way to spend your break, but it is what some members of the charity organisation The Grey Man are committed to. They go undercover to help rescue individuals and it is controversial and risky business.

Grey Man Intelligence Coup
Due to a recent meeting between Grey Man, a Thai government organisation and two NGO's we will soon have access to intelligence files that will allow us to pursue traffickers in five countries bordering Thailand. We have also been asked to handle rescues for these organisations.
Changing Nature of Trafficking
Our opposition is getting smarter. In the past year our operatives have noticed that the situation has changed and it has been getting harder to find children in the traditional venues. Brothel owners are tending now to use photos of sex workers and allowing customers to order from digital photos on mobiles and have the sex workers delivered by motorbike to a buyer's hotel room. Much like a pizza delivery. This is partly due to the fact that there has been a Thai police crackdown in some areas but also because the traffickers are now more wary of Europeans who ask for young children.
However The Grey Man has increased its use of Thai personnel and has also been active in following the new routes that traffickers use. Instead of the traditional brothels, children are ending up in Karaoke bars and other places but are only provided to customers once the owner trusts the buyer. This makes our job harder but we are on top of it and should see some good results over the next few months
